Fatherless by Brian J. Gail

It has been a few years since I first read this, and it was good to revisit after the hiatus.

Brian Gale has a great deal of insight into the decline of Western civilisation, particularly in relation to the errors and omissions by those in the Catholic Church which have sped up this decline.  Writing from an unashamedly pro-life perspective, he weaves an ensemble of characters into a fast-moving plot of intrigue and adventure.  Definitely a page-turner, this easy to read novel makes for entertaining as well as insightful reading.

If you have ever found yourself wondering, “Where did it all go wrong?”  then the information in this book goes at least part of the way to explaining this.

The interplay between religion, high finance, media and medical sciences all get given a thorough analysis in the context of a fictional novel.  Story telling was once a vehicle to impart a memorable message, and Brian Gale uses this facility to good effect in this novel.

This is the first in a trilogy, with the subsequent novels titled “Motherless” followed by “Childless”.

The masculine-looking cover may appeal to husbands, sons and uncles if you are looking for a gift for Christmas I may just have saved you hours of scouring the shops for the perfect gift!
